Craig is working hard at his job! Work Work Work and more work. No more words are needed to describe his week other than those...Oh, you could add "stress" as well :)
Haley has started her first week of preschool! She goes Mon. Wed & Fri. and LOVES her new school. The preschools here are geared more toward social interaction/play rather than academic & learning. So what kid wouldn't like more play time at school?!? I will just need to work with her more at home with reading & writing.
Cole has decided to grace us with his willingness to answer a single question. But he will only answer one question for you and no more...and don't even try to ask him a question other than this one because he will just flat out ignore you :) Are you ready to know the question? The question you may ask him is this: "Cole, what does an elephant say?" And Cole will put his lips together and make his version of an elephant (a high squeel) :) Oh, a very proud mother I am :) He will not acknoweldge you if you ask "Where's mommy?" or "Where's daddy?" Or any other simple question...but he darned well knows what an elephant says! Side note (more for my own record as I am copying all of these entries into a family journal): He can only say 1 word..and it is "Hi" He will say mamamamma and dadadada and other babbles but not to a specific person. But he will also come up to you and ask you a question in his own little Cole language, you smile and say, "Oh really?" and he will do a little more talking of his language & then laugh. He really thinks he is having a conversation :)
And me...the saga of the week is this: My bank, and most banks here do not have bank drive-thrus. Yes. I said that correctly. NO BANK DRIVE-THRU! So picture this: Me hauling my two adorable & pleasant kids into the bank to deposit some checks. We get in there, my kids are running around. Then, Cole trips and lands flat on his face. He is screaming uncontrollably, but I need to deposit these checks....mostly because I do not want to come back....and I am sooo close to having it be my turn at the teller! The bank teller trys to give Cole a sucker to calm him down, but this only makes him scream harder....so he's still crying, and it is my turn at the teller. So I say to this teller the moment I get up there as I am frustrated that I even had to come inside the bank, "Are there no bank drive-thrus around here?" He says, "What?" me-"Bank drive thrus...are there any around here?" Him, " Umm, the nearest drive thru here is Taco Bell."........a pause from me as it is registering in my head of what he just said and then Me--"BANK DRIVE-THRU!" As I am giving him my DEATH STARE and having to speak over Cole's screaming (as he will continue to scream until we reach the car later) He looks at me dumbfounded as if these words are not part of is vocabulary...and then...a light blinks on and the heavens open with a gushing of pure wisdom-- him..."Oh! No, there aren't any bank drive-thrus here....I know they are more common back East though" Back East?!?! Back East?!?!?!?! You would think I was in some po-dunk town, not in the highly modernized area Los Angeles! (Can you tell I am getting worked up just thinking about it!) And what did I learn from this?? I will not be doing the bank deposits for our family in the future :) I will pass along this duty to my dear husband.
So funny!!! I can't wait for Lily to have random conversations that no one understands but her. :) I am so with you . . . I can't believe the teller had no idea what a bank drive thru is. Anyone with kids knows that is so important! Love reading your blog!
